Good way to pass the time By MyraandMatt I was browsing through the Kindle store and saw this book for free, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to download it. I work with young adults, so sometimes I like reading these kinds of books to remind me what life is like for them. As an adult now having the wisdom from experiences I've had, I think sometimes I forget how agonizing the teenage years can be.This book was exactly what I thought it would be. It was an easy read. The story was good enough, that it made me want to continue reading, so I was able to finish it in three sittings. The characters were pretty typical for students that age. I wasn't the biggest fan of Mindy, the main character. She was a bit overdramatic for me (although I do have students who totally remind me of her). There were some interesting plot developments. Things I thought would happen didn't so I was glad that it wasn't super predictable. Of course I had a visual of what I thought the characters looked like. I ended up going to the author's website and saw pictures of the characters. As bad as this may be to say, I was pretty disappointed, because they looked nothing like how I imagined them. Whatever you do, do not watch the little video trailers either. They definitely do not do the book justice and make it seem much cheesier than it actually is (honestly, I don't think I would have even read the book if I watched the videos first).If you're looking for an easy read and like teenage drama, this is a book for you.

Once Mysti Jaye started leaking the basic plot to her first installment to Santa Monica University, I knew I had to add this to my must read list. I'm a huge fan of young adult fiction and Santa Monica University Book 1 Undecided doesn't disappoint.The first book in this series is told from the point of view of college freshman, Mindy Carmichael. I was drawn to her character immediately! She's fun, smart and I could completely relate to her way of thinking. It absolutely reminded me of my friends and I our first year in college. She has her two best guy friends there to guide her along the way, as well as meeting some sure to be life long friends along the way.Overall, this was an easy, fun read. I can honestly say that I was disappointed when I finished the book only because I wasn't ready for it to end! I cannot wait to read book two from Mysti Jaye. I also highly recommend you checking out this author's Facebook page. I love the way she interacts with her readers, including them on her writing journey (OfficialMystiJaye on Facebook). It's also a fun page full of videos to "meet" the characters, find out insider information and even get the characters' radio playlists!
