Review Wicked Women Book Blog-Tesrin Afzal

  • While reading this book I became complacent and was happy in my bubble. But it all changes when the authors decided to yank the carpet from under my feet and sent me sailing off the cliff. I totally wanted to bash heads and beat one particular character but then things calmed down and then all hell broke loose. This book was more than a typical YA, it spoke about teenagers being bullied and being in relationships that may or may not be good or bad for them. For me this book raced me to the edge of the cliff and shoved me into the dark, freezing water that may or may not have broken my fall.
Lustful Literature Blog- Debbie Leitao
  • A few times I could not get my eyes to read fast enough.  Major Cliffhanger that had me slam my kindle down and yell Noooooo!!!!!!! I was so angry it ended that I wanted to smack the authors with their own book.
Dayreader Reviews-Tracey Quintin

  • Julie Solano & Tracy Justice have done an outstanding job of creating a storyline and cast of characters that you will be immediately drawn to. They also tackle important issues, including Teen Dating Violence and underage drinking, with an emphasis on how much both issues can impact ones life in the blink of an eye.

  • I feel like these authors have really done a great job bringing to light some situations teenagers and quite frankly woman of all ages find themselves in. It's very fast paced and it certainly takes a turn I did not expect. My mouth was left hanging and I seriously couldn't believe it.   I definitely appreciate this story and think it would definitely appeal to teen girls and anyone who loves a good country YA book.

Without it I am very sure that I wouldn't have been in contact with the amazing two authors who wrote this magnificent debut novel! I loved this book from the very start. The characters were so real and really reminded me of my school days. I thought the introduction to the characters at the beginning of the story really helped to set the scene and tone for the rest of the book!! I'm sure most of us girls can see bits of ourselves in Kaitlyn, her clumsiness, her trust in others and her determination are characteristics I love in a female lead. And oh Brody, he is adorable who wouldn't want to date him or have their daughter date him. He is particularly swoon worthy! The camaraderie between the group including Kaitlyn's twin brother and best friend is the comical side of the story especially the poison plant scenes! However, all is not perfect in their world, thanks to Pistol Kaitlyn's boyfriend. Put it this way he doesn't like being turned down!!!! In fact he puts their lives at risk more than once. It is the suspense that he brings which elevates this from a good N/A book to an AMAZING N/A book. Julie and Tracy you have done a wonderful job writing this book and I thank you for trusting me to review it. I really am looking forward to building our friendship and reading more in this series. I award this book 5* ~Rosie

The character Kaitlyn instantly grabbed my heart. Kaitlyn and Brody have been best friends since they were kids. However, it seems like Brody wants to take their friendship to the next level.Kaitlyn never seemed to notice Brody in that way since she had a boyfriend. Later on down the road, Kaitlyn also starts to have feelings for Brody. My heart instantly broke for Kaitlyn because of the things she goes through with her boyfriend Pistol. She is definitely a relatable character and one that you will just fall in love with. When Fall Breaks is book one in the series and it deserves 5 stars!! The authors did an amazing job of keeping the intensity alive with their words, while adding tender moments, too. They take this story and really pull the reader in. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down! You can tell that their heart and soul is so clearly poured out and bared on each page. Highly recommended!!! Don’t wait! Pick this one up today!!

It had a country romance theme to it but also had an edge to it that kept you thinking about what was going to happen next. When I first started reading it I thought it was going to be just a cheesy romance novel. I love cheesy romance novels but this one pleasantly surprised me. The main character pip (that's her nickname) has a twin brother and they have a mutual best friend. She starts to realize that she is falling for her best friend. The problem is that 1) that is her best friend and 2) she has a boyfriend. Her boyfriend is the guy she thinks she is lucky to have. But the boyfriend is controlling, doesn't approve of her friendship with Brody (her best friend), and has slowly become slightly more violent. When she breaks it off after many problems, he doesn't approve of it. He starts to stalk her and it becomes so bad she ends up in the hospital.I think the main reason I connected with this book is because she represents all of us in society today. Her boyfriend always makes her think he can do better and he pressures her all the time. Also she is an athlete who is trying to get into college as well as a musician. I think the reason she can connect with us all (mostly girls) is because we have these pressures as well. We think are we good enough for our significant other? How hard do we have to push ourselves to be good enough to have a good future? This book hit all the points that made me love it. Of course I wish there were a few more chapters so I could see what pips and Brody's relationship was like before she started to fall in love with him. But overall it had excitement, romance, and friendship that anyone would love.

I'm loving how the series is progressing along with the characters. Brea is my fav even in the first book, she is sweet and fierce and would do anything for the loved ones. And Caith, Oh my Caith!!!! It was surprising and awesome to know more about him. Even though not sure of his parentage but it adds to suspense. I love the fact it is of multiple POV's and know what is going on. And even though knowing things, Gail made me feel how the character felt even having extra knowledge. That's is awesome! Gail's writing hooks you into the scene. I was afraid when I completed 80% reading that it is going to be a cliffhanger but Whoosh! it was not and am looking forward what is going to happen next.A def must read.I was given a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

It picks up right where the first book ends and carries a steady momentum that allows the story to flow naturally. We get more characters to add to our amazing cast and more development on the key players. We learn more about what the group is up against, what could be lost and what could be gained. This book is emotional with ups and downs but still flows naturally, never feeling forced. Gail is a rockstar and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Romance, drama, and trauma are in the air. Brea must navigate through the new powers she is forced to acknowledge and around two men she doesn't want to. One hardened her heart and the other opened it.

By Karen Greygoose Well written story that took this reader on a journey following two young lives in a time long since forgotten. The Crusades and the historical references provide fact to the lives that are portrayed in this book. I am on tenterhooks waiting for the next instalment of this trilogy.

By Lis Faenza I love historical fiction, so this read was right up my alley: from the action, to the great descriptions of the locations in the book to the believable characters, I was on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put The Infidel down, and have to admit to I can't wait for the sequel.

Set in Europe and the Middle East in the 1200s, this story weaves together the adventures of Gian and Lara. Powered by extensive historical research, characterisation, counterpoint plot, and sumptuous geography this romantic adventure has it all. Looking forward to the next book in the trilogy to find out what happens to our hero Gian next!

Like his other books, it's well written and paced, but not a detective story in the accepted sense. What is being investigated is a girl's mysterious past--of which she herself is unaware. Basically, it's the story of a fairy-tale damsel in distress. A working girl obviously of upper class birth is kept in isolation by her elderly "aunt" (shades of Rapunzel). Along comes Prince Charming, a New York playboy named Rex, to rescue her and discover her secret past.No doubt, in the end, boy gets girl, but I stopped reading halfway through the melodrama (lest I come to a scene where the heroine is lashed to a railroad track). A shame because I liked other novels that Tracy wrote.Tracy is a British writer (1863 - 1928) but this novel takes place in New York. My rating of 2 expresses my own reaction to the book. Tracy was a popular and prolific writer in his time, and other readers with sensibilities different from mine may well enjoy the novel more than I did.

Having just finished it, I can say that I'm certainly glad I took a chance on it.I've read a lot of stories by Louis Tracy, but this is the first I've read by him that takes place in New York. Not being sure if Tracy ever traveled there, I was surprised by the geographical accuracy presented.Would I call Rex, an important character in the book, a "playboy"? If anything, I'd say that his mother is the one who played the role of making ill use of a family inheritance. As the book continues, and the plot fully develops, I find it a pity that the previous review didn't give the book a chance. Things change rapidly afteran initial presentation of the main characters. Other people enter into the rapidly arising conflict that was much more than the rescuing of a "damsel in distress". Anything from a crooked politician to a desperate vagabond. However, my two favorite characters where the two police officers, Steingall and Clancy. You might call them the American versions of Winter and Furneaux. The latter two play a prominent part in a few other books by Tracy that take place in England. As for these duos, they are both as different as day is to night. Yet, they work together like bacon and eggs. One is a little fat, and the other is a little scrambled. That should be enough to satisfy any readers literary appetite. Finally, one of many quotes I saved from the book that thoroughly entertained me. Tracy at his acme of humor and excitement. "Voles urged on the car by foot and finger. After him pelted Petch, with set teeth and straining eyes. The magnificent car, superb in its energies, swept through the night like a fiery dragon of song and fable, but with a speed never attained by dragon yet, else there would be room on earth for nothing save dragons. And the motor-cycle leaped and bounded close behind, stuttering its resolve to conquer the monster in front".Just one of many reasons why I enjoy Louis Tracy's books. I'd say The Bartlett Mystery is one of his best.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Prissy, but Original By Amazon Customer *The Bartlett Mystery* is a police procedural inhabited mainly by characters out of F. Scott Fitzgerald, with a few out of O. Henry. They all belong to a rigid class system which works like this: The Upper Class has money. Their women wake up at noon, after having spent all night gossiping nastily about each other. The women of the Middle Class are secretaries or work in dress shops. The women of the Lower Class do "manual labor". They are coarse and vulgar, but it's not their fault.Tracy's language is often prissy. In spite of these faults, I liked the book. The plot and the characters are original, and I prefer prissiness to the graphic but stereotyped sex scenes of modern mysteries, which often give the impression of having been written by artificial intelligence software of 1960s vintage.

Tall Tales Of Gods, Demons And Superstitions, by Ari Abraham

Review "I started reading these stories twenty minutes before the time I usually go to sleep. I stayed up way past the time I usually go to sleep--amused, disturbed, puzzled, fascinated, and delighted. Ari Abraham has written a world that I recognize from life and populated it with characters I recognize from stories I loved as a kid." -- Nick Antosca, writer on NBC's Hannibal and the new Friday The 13th

About the Author Ari Abraham is a writer of American mind, Malaysian body and British soul. For some reason, Ari has always been telling tales. Growing up in England he held court in the living room at Christmastime. During his time at primary school in Malaysia he weaved a story so convincing about running away from home his parents were called in on suspicion of negligent behavior. Upon returning to England and his subsequent escape to America, he harnesses his storytelling skills to earn a simple crust. During his time masquerading as professional writer Ari has collaborated with magnificent purveyors of stories such as Chaos Created in England, Fountainhead Transmedia, Part & Sum and Campfire in New York as well as Blacklight Transmedia, 3AD, Little House, Undercurrent, and NOBL Los Angeles where he currently consults as their Entertainment Lead. Ari now has made peace with the fact he will always have to face the blank screen to make a living. This struggle is salved by terrorizing his wife Samantha on a daily basis for therapeutic relief. PS: This is Ari's first book. So be kind. Or be terrible and he will will have a bomoh in Malaysia put a curse on you that's worse than anything you've read in Harry Potter.

This little book full of tales will have you flipping through the pages laughing, crying, cringing and wanting more. I was always curious for what follows after the last page in each story, leaving the door open for my imagination to take over, and that's a mark of a good author in my book. With "Trick or Treat" around the corner, I'd say this is a treat!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I laughed, I cried, I shuddered By Y. Riveting from start to finish! Above and beyond being just a collection of spooky fun stories, Tall Tales manages to strike at the very heart of humanity and capture everything from our ability to hope and love ("Christmas Eve" moved me cry), our need for connection and the enduring spiritual bonds we can build ("Missing Hank" made me cry MORE) right down to our darkest, most twisted depravities (read "Halal" and shudder). The stories zip excitingly around the globe from Asia to the Amazonian forests, and the writer's specificity of knowledge in each region is impressive. Between the vast array of geographical and mystical references as well as the compelling core of humanity driving each story, I believe every reader will find something they will want to read and re-read.

This book is alive with description that makes me feel like I am there, with the characters, seeing what they see, feeling what they feel. And speaking of feeling- your sexual sceens are vividly expressive. I find myself sighing when reading the tender, sweet, love-making and tense with terror when you describe the brutality and insensitity of you-know-who. I often find that I do not want a good book to end. Well, I am only half way done with The Heirs of Briarwood and I DON'T WAN IT TO END!! Keep writing. Keep those books coming our way.

The writing is wonderful By Amazon Customer I have read many books in this genre and this one has a twist that I have never read before that made it very interesting. I am not going to give it way because you need to read the book to understand. This story was great! The writing is wonderful. The story flowed nicely and this did not seem like a first book of an author it was that good. I will buy all her future stories as well. Well done!(PS Amazon only gave 3 choices for sexual content and I didnt aggree with any of them, I would say there are a few very explicit scenes but not near what some books of this genre have)

I made the mistake of getting this book at night. Once I started reading it, I could not put it down. I stayed up to wee hours of the morning to finish it.Great story line and characters, and the book followed throughout. I can't wait for the author's next book!

Liz will do anything to get away from her evil guardian, and she was prepared to disguise herself as a boy and look for work as a ranch hand. When Caroline, a stranger on the train next to her, sees through her "boy" disguise, and begs her to take her place as a mail-order bride, Liz doesn't hesitate long before saying yes. It's got to be easier than working on a ranch, and as a married woman with a new name, she'll be out of her guardian's clutches forever.

Wade Malone has been looking forward to his new bride for months, but when "Caroline" finally arrives, things don't exactly add up. For one, "Caroline" was supposed to be 25 years old; the woman who came off the train doesn't look a day above 16. He has a strong aversion to liars, particularly in a wife. But he's also a man who keeps his promises and whoever the woman is at his side, he's made a commitment.

That doesn't mean he's not going to handle his new bride very firmly indeed. Then, against all odds, Liz starts to fall for the no-nonsense rancher and his family. How will she ever keep him from finding out the complete truth about the switch?

As for you other two nay-sayers, Don't read books that warn you about the theme of the story. It's your own fault if you read it despite the clearly written warning and your right to criticize becomes negated. 5 stars for a well written story and I hope there is a sequel about Caroline, who needs to grow up and not return to mama when she makes a mistake.

I don't always like Western, but I loved Patty's Western By Joelle O'Bryan I was given a free copy for an honest and fair review.Having read snippets of the book on Patty's website, I was so excited for its release, to read it. Meeting Liz and Caroline on the train was great fun. I enjoyed the rapport between the women. Liz's hair slipping out from her hat was an endearing moment. I felt such empathy for both women as Caroline tried to talk Liz into taking her place as a mail order bride. Patty wrote many heart-stopping moments into the chapter when Liz arrived with Wade waiting for her. Then the quick ceremony and trip to Wade's ranch. From here, I won't give any more details, but say you need to read the book! The spankings were wonderfully detailed and emotional. And Patty wrote an amazingly perfect "Happily Ever After."

Clean Domestic Discipline Western Romance By Redrabbitt Elizabeth "Liz" Castle was running away from her lecherous uncle and dressed as a boy heading west on a train. Caroline, a widow from Chicago was on the same train heading westward to marry Wade Malone as a mail order bride, but he wanted a "in name only" marriage, someone to cook, clean and raise his two children. On the journey Caroline notices that Liz is not a boy and they strike up a conversation. Caroline tells her about being a mail order bride, but she doesn't want to do it, she wants to return to Chicago and convinces Liz to take her place. Who knew that Wade was a stern believer in domestic discipline. This is the story of Wade and Liz and how he deals with his wife. This is a domestic discipline story and is a clean story without discussing sex.

Ebook PDF The Ring of Veiling (Queen Arthur Book 1), by John P Logsdon, Christopher P Young

It's not easy being a king, especially when you desire to dress like a queen!

Not intended for children. Contains adult themes/situations/language and is positively not politically correct! Arthur has been dressing in his dearest's clothes for quite some time, but his beloved has just caught him in the act! It turns out that Guinevere is the understanding type ... and with good reason. You see, she's the one who prefers to wear the boxers in this family. Fortunately, Guinevere recalls a story from her youth regarding a magical talisman that will show a person however he or she desires to be seen. A fat man can appear thin, an old woman can appear young, and so on. This, of course, is perfect for Arthur since he desires to dress in a fashion that is more befitting a queen than a king. Merlin is a wizard (of sorts). He has been in contact with a woman from the future for many years. She has taught him much about technology and science. So much, in fact, that the people of his world believe he is capable of doing magic. One of the items she shared with him is the motion picture camera. Since then, Merlin has been looking for a project to allow him to become a director (in the film-industry sense of the word). Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable set off on a quest to retrieve the magical talisman while Merlin joins the adventure so that he may film the entire ordeal.

Kira, Samm, and Marcus fight to prevent a final war between Partials and humans in the gripping final installment in the Partials Sequence, a series that combines the thrilling action of The Hunger Games with the provocative themes of Blade Runner and The Stand.

There is no avoiding it—the war to decide the fate of both humans and Partials is at hand. Both sides hold in their possession a weapon that could destroy the other, and Kira Walker has precious little time to prevent that from happening. She has one chance to save both species and the world with them, but it will only come at great personal cost.

Amazon.com Review Two Truths and a Lie by Dan Wells

Here's an old game: each person says three facts about themselves, but only two of them are true. If you can guess which one is the lie, you win. Simple, right? You'd be surprised. Try this: Dan Wells: 1. I speak three languages. 2. I've spun the big wheel on The Price is Right. 3. I've ridden hobo-style on the Mexican Railroad. That's a bit of a trick question: I speak English and Spanish, but even though I live in Germany I don't actually speak German. Sneaky, right? Ready for more? Here are two truths and a lie from all the major characters of the Partials Sequence; guess right, and you'll get some hints about the third book, RUINS. Guess wrong, and. ..well, you might be in for some big surprises.

Kira Walker: 1. My father wants me dead. 2. I never make it back home again. 3. I once met a talking dog.

Marcus Valencio: 1. I almost get eaten. 2. I defuse a nuclear bomb. 3. I have never seen snow.

Samm: 1. I was named after Sam Malone from Cheers. 2. I kiss Heron in the third book. 3. I die in the third book.

Heron: 1. I'm the one who kills Samm. 2. I also kill Marcus. 3. Maybe I'm playing two lies and a truth, you can't tell me what to do.

Nandita Merchant: 1. I'm a member of the Trust. 2. The Trust destroyed the world on purpose. 3. Someone in the Trust wants to destroy the world again.

Isolde Romer: 1. My baby is a weapon. 2. My baby is dying. 3. Nandita cures my baby.

Ariel McAdams: 1. I'm a living bomb. 2. I hate the Partials. 3. I kill Nandita.

Xochi Kessler: 1. I hate my mother. .. 2. ...but I save her life anyway. 3. (She doesn't save mine. )

Yoon Ji-Bak: 1. I have a pet panther 2. I help cure RM. 3. I help kill hundreds of thousands of people.

RUINS: 1. This is the final book in the Partials Sequence. 2. This book has a giant purple monster in it. 3. This book has a happy ending.

From School Library Journal Gr 9 Up—The final war between the Partials and the humans is at hand. Though both sides possess weapons that could destroy the other, Kira Walker holds the key to preventing all-out destruction.

From Booklist What happens when your mortal enemy may be your only hope of a cure for a disease that is exterminating everyone like you? Is it even possible to coexist peacefully after a decade of war? In this, the concluding installment of the Partials Sequence, Kira (who has discovered that she herself is a Partial); her beloved Samm; Dr. Morgan, who is determined that Kira will provide the cure even if she dies in the process; and Delarosa, who is prepared to sacrifice her own life to end the reign of the Partials—all are back, along with a few more old and new characters. Unless they want to be utterly lost, readers better check out Partials (2012) and Fragments (2013) before jumping into this ably written and quite relentless story. For fans who love the panoramic world-spanning feel of this story, suggest Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams’ Tunnel series or Ilsa J. Bick’s Ashes trilogy. Grades 8-11. --Cindy Welch

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Amazing ending to a great series! By DragonCeres Partials has to be my favorite YA dystopian series after reading all of the other super-hyped one. First, it stands out because the story is not focused on the love story, but on the actual issue of human extinction. Secondly, it covers deep moral and philosophical issues. How far would you go? What would you do if it meant saving humanity from extinction? Lastly, it is set in a believable world with a believable society where Dan Wells explains exactly how we got there, not like some other dystopians where the entire how we got to the dystopian society from today is jumped over. The book focuses on several characters, Kira, Samm, Marcus, and Kira’s sisters’ Isolde and Xochi and Ariel. For everyone, it picks up exactly where the 2nd book left off. Throughout the series, we have seen Kira’s determination to save humans from RM, but now her determination is turned to saving both races. She’s arguably the best human in the book, because she no longer purely hates Partials based on the fact that they were engineered and not “really” human. No, she sees a way to save everyone and she won’t stand back and let humanity destroy itself, no matter how hard it tried.Usually, I’m not a huge fan of multiple storylines, because I find some of them tedious. I felt the same way at the start of this book, but my opinion changed as I read as the individual storylines began merging with one another, or as one revelation is revealed in one POV but not yet in another POV. The pacing might be a bit slow in places because Dan Wells does not skimp on the world building, the science, or the moral issues at hand. Also, I have to mention the romance, the little bit there was. I’m so happy Kira chose who she did, but it was predictable. Yes, there’s just a tiny bit of love triangle, but I didn’t mind because the triangle wasn’t dragged out over three books and most of the story is not focused on the romance at all.Ruins also include some new revelations about the people who created the Partials, the Trust. It was interesting and saddening to see how each of the Trust reacted to the consequences of their creations. They had the best intentions when they created Partials and RM, but sometimes even the best plans go awry, especially when you consider the unpredictable reaction of humans. If you enjoy sci-fi, complex characters, and deeper moral issues in your books then Partials is the story for you. If you’re all about the romance and want a story revolved around that, then this probably won’t be your thing. Overall, I love this series and hope Dan Wells’ future works will be equally as enjoyable as this one!

11 of 14 people found the following review helpful. A Disappointing Finish By TKnite What happened to this series? The first book in this trilogy was great! The second book was pretty good. And this one was plain awful.I don’t understand how this happened. I really don’t.I suppose I’ll just catalogue all my issues in order of when I noticed them.First off, there were way too many POVs in this story. WAY too many. There were so many POVs that by the time I got back around to one person after going through them all, I had forgotten what that person was doing. And there didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the POV usage. Some characters had more prominent roles than others, sure, but seemingly random characters we had never met before ended up with POV roles, and they didn’t even do anything substantial to progress the plot. They were there solely to show the reader what was happening in places the reader wouldn’t otherwise see.And this was a mistake, in my opinion, because frankly, most of the information from those POVs wasn’t necessary. Cutting it out wouldn’t have resulted in any confusion. Adding it, in fact, created confusion because I wasn’t sure why all these characters were suddenly tossed into the mix, and they didn’t contribute to my overall understanding of the plot. The POV issue also created a terrible timeline problem. Because there were so many POVs, it was impossible to follow one character’s story through and through, so there were large time gaps between a lot of scenes…that were totally unannounced. Sometimes, it mentioned that “such and such event was so many days ago” somewhere in the middle of the chapter. Sometimes, you just had to figure it out yourself. And I was plain lost on occasion. I got back around to some characters and was completely confused because the makeup of so-and-so’s group had changed and they were in a different place than when I’d left them…and it turns out the last chapter they were in took place WEEKS ago.Add these problems in to the actual plot of the story, and…I had so many problems with the plot of this story.First off, I find it so hard to believe that Kira can figure things out that many, many people who should be way smarter than her can’t. Also, the solution to the main problem in this story is so OBVIOUS, and Kira is the only one who “gets it.” I just…my belief in the plausibility of Kira’s abilities versus everyone else’s just eroded to almost zero over the course of this book.Secondly, random last-minute antagonist alert! I’m not going to spoil it, but it annoyed me so bad that the ending of this book literally came down an eleventh-hour antagonist who came out of NOWHERE and stuck around just long enough for the protagonists to reach a resolution. What a freaking cop out!Third, underdeveloped plot threads that dropped out of the sky. There were at least two important ones I can think of off the top of my head. One of them was a deus ex machina, that, of course, was involved in the battle against the last-minute antagonist.Fourth, the plot of this book was just plain dense, and it felt like half the material in this book should have been in Fragments, to replace all that drawn-out journey stuff I had issues with.Fifth, the heap of helpful contrived coincidences. I mean, really? Everybody shows up at the exact right moment? Back to back to back to keep the ball rolling? And it happened so many times in the final 100 pages that I wanted to chuck the book out the window.Sixth, and finally, the ending sucked. It just…plain sucked. There’s a climax, and then the book ends a few pages later. There’s no real resolution. The battle ends and it just…stops. It read like there were three or four chapters missing from the end of the book, and I was not happy that I didn’t get to see how ANY of the issues that this entire trilogy was about were resolved. Not a single one.I’m rarely angry when I finish a book. Content? Most of the time. Disappointed? Sometimes. But angry? Almost never. But this time, I’m angry. The setup of this series promised the answers to huge questions, and never answered them. And there is nothing that riles me up more than when a book doesn’t deliver on its promises.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Good but needed more Kira and Samm By Ashlei I fell in love with Kira and Samm during the first two books. I wanted more of them here. At least Samm. I was disappointed that I had to read through 4 other people's viewpoints before I would hear from Samm or Kira again. They were the ones we fell in love with not Ariel or Shon. I found myself flipping pages trying to get to something better and exciting. There was so much going on at once I found it difficult to keep up with everything with 5-6 different viewpoints going on. It was pretty boring when one character would find out new information and then another character would find out the same info later on and we would have to recap.I just thought it could have been better.

Lizzie, 20, laundress of Legananny, Northern Ireland sets off with her half sister, Eliza, and her cousin, James, by ship to America. This is the story of her voyage, her immigration and her adventures as an indentured servant for a prominent religious family in Newton Lower Falls, Massachusetts for one year.    Boston of 1892 is a cauldron of political upheaval, new inventions, and deep-seated prejudice against the Irish. If Lizzie avoids being sent home for her temper or incompetence in the kitchen, will she find employment in a world where “no Irish need apply”? Will she marry the minister who loves her and be confined to a life contrary to her fiery, headstrong nature? Will her family in Ireland still watch for the selfsame moon and stars she sees, and will she ever see her family again?   Lizzie begins her journey full of energy, hope, and adventure. She decides in a new land, in new circumstances, she can be anyone she wants to be. However, while she learns to be an indentured servant, what she thinks she wants begins to evolve. The Selfsame Moon and Stars is the second book in the Legananny Legacy trilogy.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. would delight in this book By Rose Grogan This second book in the series, "The Legannany Legacy ", is definitely a "page-turner"!! I kept finding myself wondering how each situation would unfold. Anyone interested in how a person would travel so far from home onto an unknown shore, would delight in this book. To wonder if people would be helpful and caring, and to have to be vigilant regarding perils yet unknown ....well, without giving away any of the journey from first page to last, I can say that I easily smiled, I laughed, I had tears, as I experienced events and feelings along with the people in this saga about people Ms. Dupont can claim as related to her. I cannot wait for the third book. I highly recommend this book. It refreshes my memory that we are here because someone made a huge decision to make a life here. Good reading, Ms. Dupont. You made me bless those who were in my background!

This being the second in a series ties in nicely with the first book By Joseph Dutcher This being the second in a series ties in nicely with the first book, The Winds of County Down, as the family moves into the next generation with two sisters emigrating to America from their homeland and describes the hardships endured to come to the land of opportunity in the late 1800's.This tale is best read slowly to enjoy the wonderful dialect which I'm sure the author nailed 100%. ie. "T"marra's another day, she thought. I guess Eliza's sleepin' in her ain room, t'night. Her bed mus' be dry wit' the wind blowin' .." The author has a rich history to draw from and an equally rich imagination to keep the reader engaged. Dorothy MacNeill Dupont is also a talented artist that did both covers for her books. A very gifted writer.

This is a fictionalized account of the lives of several generations of the author's family. I find the story is very engaging. The author provides an amazing amount of detail in her descriptions of the lifestyles and hardships of late 19th century immigrants. She captures the accents of her Scotch/Irish ancesters which adds wonderful flavor to the story. I look forward to the third installment at the end of Summer 2015.
