After tackling her first mission and coming to terms with her power of empathy, Andriana discovers her first battles were only a taste of what is to come. From School Library Journal Gr 7–10—The plot of this second series installment follows quickly on the heels of Season of Wonder (Blink, 2014), with no introduction or recap for new readers. The same cast of characters continues on its journey to find the rest of the Ailith (or prophesied beings with special powers) and spread the word of The Maker, all the while being hunted by those who would stop them. The story is told in the alternating perspectives of Ronan and Andriana, and readers will question the actions of both. While the previous volume was a solid adventure story, the heavy-handed message of this volume will turn off all those but the most devout fans. This is unlikely to draw new readers to the series. VERDICT Purchase only where the first book is popular.—Sarah Jones, Clinton-Macomb Public Library, MI

By Lilians_Books After tackling her first mission and coming to terms with her power of empathy, Andriana discovers her first battles were only a taste of what is to come. She and her knight, Ronan, have admitted their feelings for each other, but their bonds are tested when Dri is captured by their mortal and spiritual enemy—Sethos—and his master, Keallach, emperor of Pacifica. Let me just say.. Oh my beautiful book. Book two was even better then book one. I can only imagine what what Season of Glory will be like. Sadly, I must wait until 2016 until I can find out So Season of Wonder (book one) left off with (Minor spoilers ahead) Roniero missing, and the rest of the Remnants heading off to the island prison on Catal. This book picks up right where it left off. I think the main message that Lisa (tha author) was trying to get through was that through your troubles and battles that you must face, you can’t rely on your own strength alone. Relying only on yourself will bring defeat upon you. But if you rely on God and His powers over your own, there’s nothing you can’t do. This message seemed to come to me at just the right time, honestly. But God usually works like that. I also loved how profound the writing was, especially towards the end. It really made me stop for a second amd think about the meaning of what was said. I must warn that this book is probably better for older teens and up. It does contain a lot more dark themes and gory parts then the first book. So if those kind of things make you flinch, this might not be the book for you.Now on to my favorite part: Characters I loved Andriana and her character. She was not a doll to be played with. While she can’t openly kill someone, she was not about to just give up at the first sign of trouble. She fought for everything she believed in and never backed down.GIRL POWER! I also really loved getting to know her and her character better. Throughout the book, she discovered who she was while also growing in her relationship with The Maker (AKA God).I really love Keallach. He has so many layers yet to discover. I am really hoping that in Season of Glory, he overcomes the darkness controlling him and joins the Remnants.I Still love Niero. I won’t spoil the book for you, but let’s just say he isn’t who you think he is That was probably the biggest plot twist of all.THE PLOT TWIST, THOUGH.Some familiar characters can be seen again, and a few may surprise you Plus somecharacters may.. reveal themselves to you a bit.Overall, this book is a story of finding yourself and relying on God through everything. It is very enjoyable and keeps you hanging on the edge as you get to know the characters a lot better. The darkened adds a wonderful edge to keep your attention. I can only imagine how amazing Season of Glory will be!-Lilian-P.S. Thanks Lisa T. Bergren for sending me an autographed copy for reviewing purposes! You the best

By Beth Book two to the Remnants series by Lisa T. Bergren published by Blink.Coming out from blockbuster hits such as Harry Potter and The Huger Games, Lisa’s series Remnants gives me the fix I need for my next literary addiction. This series has all the making of something great. Action, adventure, romance and a story you just can’t put down. Most of my reading time is in the evenings before bed. I kept telling myself I’d put this book down as soon as I had finished the current chapter I was on, only I couldn’t put it down every chapter had something happen that I could’t put it down because I had to know what would happen next.I gratefully appreciate Lisa’s style of writing. She doesn’t write the story from just one character’s view, she writes from several which to me makes the story more dynamic and it gives you a better idea of the story being told.I loved reading about a positive power-house female character such as Mrs. Bergren’s lead, Andriana as well as her knight Ronan. This series is a phenomenal story for someone of any age. This is an inspirational tale with a little bit of dystopian romance and a group of characters who have been blessed by their Maker with exceptional gifts to help them in their journey of spreading peace and hope through a land filled with desperation and peril.Remnant and knight enter the fight of good versus evil.

He’s chivalrous, and because he’s supposed to be the physical guard for Adriana (where as she’s the empathy), he comes across as a strong protective man-boy, who’s conflicted between his loyalty to The Maker, and his heart which aches to be with Dri’s (regardless of the cost.)AWWWW!!! This series makes me such a sap. Saying slang like favies. *pffft* *denies everything*I’m sorry, I’m such a sap when the cards are played right. It’s a phenomenon called HBWS (Hot Boy With Sword.) The term was coined by the lovely Sophie Riggsby. Lisa excels at HBWS’s. And, she manages to do it without her boys becoming chauvinistic.*insert another pathetic girl-squeal here*Did I mention that we get to read from Ronan’s POV (Point Of View)? I LOVE books written in male POV’s. I don’t know why, but I just love it.As for the plot of the novel itself, it was wonderful. The first third of the novel was exciting, and the second third was intriguing as it followed Dri’s specific trials. The last third was action packed and THANK THE MAKER it didn’t end in a terrible cliffhanger. It very nearly did. If it had ended where I feared it would, I probably would have found a hit squad to go after Lisa (not the killing kind…maybe the kind that mercilessly tickles people with feathers.) She really made me sweat it out for a while. I tore through it, eager to see if certain characters reunited, and if they did or didn’t make it out in one piece.Zondervan, is Christian branch of publication and most of the time, Christian fiction has a hard time attracting readers due to its perceive agenda. However, I find that Zondervan’s stories are of a different caliber than a lot of Christian fiction publishing houses.Yeah, it can be obvious in its Christian persuasion. And, there are a few obvious moments in Season of Wonder and Season of Fire. BUT, one thing that Season of Fire (and its predecessor) does differently, is that it doesn’t draw the line of light and dark. While biblically there is a pretty clear line of right and wrong, it makes it clear to us, that as human beings, we will never be able to clearly see that line.Lisa incorporates this into her characters. Her characters know the difference between light and dark, but they also struggle to see (recognize, and confront,) the line.In the book, Dri stuggles. As an empath, she wants to see the best in everyone. Especially when it comes to Keallach (who I kind of want to punch in the face…or somewhere else more important.) She sees that his proper place is with the other Remnants, and she compromises herself in order to get closer to Keallach. It confuses her, and she struggles with her desire to self-sacrifice for another’s well-being.This is when Ronan comes into play. He grounds Dri, and although they disagree, I think it’s always clear that they have a deep and trusting bond. When it matters, I think Dri will always follow Ronan’s instincts. The writings weakness is its religious undertones. But, that’s only a weakness to people who fight religious messages. It didn’t bother me, and the sweetness of the relationships was very soothing to read about. That having been said, I’m going to shamelessly give this book five stars, for appealing to my supreme dorkdom. That being said, I’ll eagerly be awaiting Season of Glory, where I can shamelessly and emotionally cuddle Ronan again ‘till my heart is content. I’m also going to shamelessly give this book five stars. I received an ARC of this book from Blink (Zondervan) in exchange for an honest review. My opinion of this book has not been affected in any way.
