By Mitch Grooms I'm not sure what I was expecting when I purchased this book, but it exceeded whatever assumptions I may have held. Instead of a standard princess romance, or even a standard "subversion" of one, this is very much its own story. Vivian is an excellent character, self-aware but still subject to the very shortcomings she's aware of, which I appreciated. I don't wish to spoil it, but the way it's structured is so well-done that I was fascinated and engaged all the way through.

The best description of Her Silent Oath that I can think of is fluffy - but not in the way that you might think. Ms Leijon's writing style is very light and quick to read, which is excellent for teens, especially those who might have some difficulty reading. Don't let that throw you off, however, because she still crafts a story like a pro. Each element that struck me as odd is acknowledged and turned on it's head in the end. She follows through on everything she sets up. Ms Leijon has crafted a story that is good for anyone who wants something light, but doesn't hold back and delivers the narrative sucker punch in the end. So much happens in the window of a few hours that most of the story takes place, and it's great.Read it if you want something light. I feel like teens would enjoy this because it wouldn't be challenging and it might surprise them in the end with how much every little setup was a foreshadow.
