Lethal Lore contains the broken remnants of folk tales, recast in blood. Four harmless legends--the jackalope, the doppelgänger, the lucky penny, the Green Children of Woolpit--become the stuff of nightmares in this collection. From campy horror to eerie gothic to nail-biting contemporary, each short story delivers a chill of a different kind. For fans of Twilight Zone and light horror (this isn't slasher gore). "Simple Math" A mathematician on the brink of suicide meets his doppelgänger, doubling his troubles. "Killer Jack" A naïve Cajun bags more than he bargained for during a jackalope hunt. "Hell Cent" Good luck for one person is bad luck for another, as The Professor soon learns. "The Bells of Bury St. Edmunds" A servant girl exacts revenge after her brother's death, unleashing terror on her medieval town. BONUS CONTENT: Explore the lore with facts, links, and illustrations. I could easily see them on as 'Twilight Zone" episodes. Monica's writing style is very straightforward and evocative. Her writing gives your imagination enough room to see the "Movie in your head". Of the 4 stories, my favorite was the "The Bells of Bury St. Edmunds" I had heard of the Green Children of Woolpit and it was cool to see the legend given a fresh take. I also liked how at the end of each story, she gave some background on the inspiration for each story. It was cool to see how she took the inspiration and transformed it into her original stories. The stories are fairly short and great for when you have a few moments to kill (Like waiting at the Doctor's office!).I was provided a copy of this book from Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review

They would be classified as dread-inducing horror, not the slasher-horror.My favorite was the Bells (last story). It has a very gothic feel to it and a thrilling feeling of dread as the story unfolds. My second favorite was Killer Jack. The voice in this story is unique and makes the story. Beware of sweet Jackalopes.Simple Math is a good twisted, winding story to make you finish with an "oooohhhhhh."Finally, Hell Cent is probably the closest to a slasher-type horror story. Those who like crazy, this is your story!

My favorite two were the jackalope story, called Simple Math, and The Bells of Bury St. Edmunds. The other two stories are Killer Jack and Hell Cent. They are all well written, but the jackalope has long been a favored tale of mine. This one was creative and had a good ending. The Bells of Bury St. Edmunds was good enough to be its own entire book. I think I have become a fan of this author's books. I need to go read more of her books now.My copy came from Story Cartel in exchange for my honest review and nothing more.
