Part 3 of the Summer Series, a spin off of the bestselling Summer Unplugged Series. This is a novella at 22,000 words. Becca survived her first year of college (barely) and now she's out for summer break. This would be an awesome time to hang out with her mega cute and famous motocross racing boyfriend, Nolan Park, but unfortunately for her, she just broke up with him. As much as she likes Park, she couldn't handle the emotional turmoil of having him go back home to California after every visit. The paparazzi are watching his every move and Becca doesn't like what she sees about Park online. She thinks the time apart will do her some good. She's never been more wrong in her life. Also available: Part 1 - Summer Alone Part 2 - Summer Together Part 3 - Summer Apart Part 4 - Summer Forever (Coming May 2015)

Very good book By @allison.516 I loved this book, Amy writes books that keep you wanting to read, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone, however you should read the first two books. There is one thing that I did not like about this book, it was so short I finished it in just one hour. But other than that it was a very good book.

The fourth book in the series starts with Zak and Tallion still at Mhonarr Castle for half term where they come face to face with the problems and dangers of visiting the past. As events straighten themselves out following an explosive scene in Mhonarr Castle crypt, the two renowned mischiefs, Steven and Eridan, also find themselves back together again, but this time in the magical world! Back in the Dale life is supposed to be ‘magic-free’, but can a wizard really abandon his wand when life becomes a bit too much to bear? With the hidden help of Barty, and to the exasperation of Sir Philip, the boys can’t resist giving life a helping hand, with some unexpected results… A mishap with a dragon, a series of mishaps with some high powered spells and charms, and setting a few records at school, it’s all par for the course in the lives of the new wizards from Netherdale, but evil is only a blink away! As the year marches on, it isn’t just the evenings that are getting colder and darker. The icy chill of winter is joined by the sinister chill of evil, creeping into Netherdale, and into the very heart of Mhonarr Castle. Anguilas Malchus is on the move… Not to be outdone by his brother, Antares Malchus is still pursuing his plan to destablise the wizarding world. However, he finds that his own brother has now become his worst enemy. Living in the magical world is becoming a risky business... Double the lessons, double the homework, double the bullies, and double the adventures. A double sized solution is called for to help the boys cope with their double lives… A few more key characters are introduced in the fourth book of the series, together with plenty new magic and unexpected twists of fate as our heroes find themselves tested again in circumstances beyond their control. The scene is being set nicely for the battles ahead… Is there another cliff hanger ending? Well, you'll need to judge for yourself, but the final chapters certainly pave the way for the rest of the series. Book five, 'Zak Turner - The Tangled Web', due out in Autumn 2015, is a pivotal link which will see the boys embarking on the struggle proper to defeat the Malchus brothers... With 33 chapters, 151,000 words, and almost 500 standard pages, Double Trouble is much longer than A Twist In Time. It was originally going to be the second book in the series, and then it was going to be the third book, but, like a pair of hungry wizards in the school lunch queue, A Wizard Summer sneaked in front first, quickly followed by A Twist In Time. Remember to visit the zakturner.co.uk website for regular updates and news about the series.

You continue to see the development and growth of the two main characters as they begin to face tougher challenges. Throw in a bit of fun and typical teen mischief and you have another outstanding series. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This book was not a disappointment. I am glad that zak and tallion were still humans and made mistakes too. They have not let there power go to there heads as well. I can not wait till the next book.

I'm in my fifties, yet still this kept me entertained and wanting more. Sure, there are some similarities to HP, but plenty of differences. Kids will LOVE them!

"[...]advisable to appoint Francis de la Roque his viceroy and Lieutenant-General of Canada. To be sure, the office was not a lucrative one—as for many years he had only the woods and forests to govern, and though boundless wealth lay concealed in these woods and forests, he had not the means to bring it forth. He made some voyages to Canada in virtue of his appointment, and attempted the foundation of a few colonies, which proved sadly unsuccessful, as France, being then occupied with domestic troubles, seemed to have forgotten Canada. It was not until 1598, in the reign of Henry IV., when a commission was given to the Marquis de la Roche—a Breton gentleman—(such as had been given to Francis de la Roque more than forty years before), that renewed interest in the affairs of the New World was awakened. This commission expressly provided that he should have chiefly in view the establishment of the Catholic Religion in all the countries under his jurisdiction. He received no assistance from the government,[...]".

My name is Reagan Wilcox: high school senior by day, kick-ass investigative journalist by night. I’ve always loved observing people—especially when they think no one is paying attention. I thought I was ready to cover any story. Work any angle. Nothing could have prepared me for what happened that night. I wasn’t ready for what I saw. And I certainly wasn’t ready for him. I always knew I’d write the headlines. Now, I just might become one.

Sarah will always be a proud member of the Steelers' Nation, but couldn't take the cold and moved her frozen tush to Florida where she now lives with her husband, daughter, and two cats. You will find her now with her trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand! Sarah's debut novel, AWAKEN, released in January, 2012. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Loved Reagan! By DesertReader This book was a pleasant surprise for me. It was the first book I have read by Sarah M. Ross, but it definitely will not be my last. I began knowing only it was YA Suspense but was immediately lured into the story. The book is told in first person POV with the heroine, Reagan Wilcox as narrator. The Prologue is intriguing, as Reagan is the middle of a dangerous situation. I had no idea how she arrived, nor how she was going to get herself out of the predicament.I'm going to die tonight. I'm sure of that now. All because I made a vow I was never gonna tell. After the brief opening, the book backtracks to reveal all the events leading up to the Prologue. Reagan is a snarky but lovable high school senior. She is an investigative journalist on the side and trying to revive the school newspaper. She is somewhat of an outcast and doesn't really fit into her high school in small town Tennessee. She has a trusty sidekick of a best friend/foster brother, Charlie. I loved their connection immediately and found their banter to be endearing. She is also attracted to the school bad boy, Marco Calotta, who doesn't seem to notice her existent. She and Marco lives are thrown into complete upheaval when they become involved in a story she is investigating. Despite the suspense element, there is a an intense connection with Reagan and Marco. I was swept up in their storyline even more than the mystery.Staring up a him, I totally get why girls go for the bad boy now. While not all the events are completely realistic, I still enjoyed this book immensely. Reagan has many characteristics of a Veronica Mars like person. She is witty and funny, without trying to be so. The entire book flowed well and was interesting from the first pages until the last. I was able to read it in one setting. I enjoyed the relationship with Reagan and her parents in addition to those with Marco and Charlie. It is refreshing to see a young strong heroine, who wants to help save people. Happily, the book has a complete ending and an epilogue. However, I certainly would not mind reading more adventures involving Reagan in the future. I have a feeling she'll once again find herself with another mystery to unearth. I recommend this book to any mature YA fan looking for a little suspense and romance."Your family doesn't define you. You define you. No matter where you come from you can direct your own future."

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Suspense! Mystery! Danger! LOVE! By Elle Wilson Never Gonna Tell by Sarah M. Ross is thrilling and edgy. The action doesn't stop until the story is over, and you'll be entranced from start to finish. This was the perfect read to clean my reading palate because it was refreshingly unlike the typical books I read.Reagan Wilcox is a high school senior with a passion for investigative journalism. She's like a modern day Veronica Mars. Did I mention that I LOVE Veronica Mars and instantly fell in love with this witty heroine. She isn't afraid to get her hands dirty in order to get the scoop. Reagan has easily blended in to her daily life, but loves the anonymity. She's sharp and intuitive but also had a side that is devoted and loyal to her friends and family. While investigating her latest hunch, she stumbles into a shocking situation and suddenly finds herself at the center of danger. I can't reveal the goodies of this plot without divulging spoilers but I will say this -- there's a boy, a bad guy (or two), and an overload of suspense that will make your heart race. If you're looking for a suspenseful read that has just the right amount of romance, get swept away in Never Gonna Tell by Sarah M. Ross.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good Ya suspense By Tami This was a well-written, fast paced suspense book that was full of twists and turns and it kept me engaged and reading to the very end, in one sitting.Reagan is a shy and quiet girl, who blends in and rarely gets noticed. She's a people watcher and this makes her good at getting the story for the school paper. She just moved to a new school and the student body is full of stories, but those aren't the kind that interest her, especially when she's trying to get the newspaper up and running again by publishing articles anonymously. Here she meets Marco, long haired, trouble making bad boy. Whose families reputation precedes him but he manages to make trouble all on his own. The sarcastic banter between these two was great!!One night Reagan witnesses a crime. This could be "THE STORY" break she needs but writing it will put her and her family's safety in jeopardy. Will Marco be able to protect her, from his own family.I didn't like the idea of high schoolers reading Fifty but I'm sure it's true to life.

This one is a strong outing although not quite to the caliber of some of his earlier works. This said, it's a good read and well worth the money spent. I totally recommend it to new readers and the others of the series as well.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent pastiche in the best Doyle tradition. By Dan - Cleveland, Ohio Excellent pastiche in the best Doyle tradition. Steven Ehrman is one of my favorite SH authors, with his effective use of period settings, characters and dialogue. The plots are sometimes a bit "out there", but they are always believable and make for a very worthwhile read.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A pretty good Holmes story By Brian Fenocchio The author has concocted a pretty good story, one that even Conan Doyle would be proud of. However the author is fairly uneven when it comes to dialogue and setting the scene. The author has a better handle on Holmes than he does on Watson, and since Watson is the lens through which we see Holmes, the author sometimes has trouble conveying the role Watson plays in Holmes life. The less intelligent he makes Watson the crueler Holmes sounds, and when you read the Canon you can feel that Holmes really does care for Watson. This care is not evident in this book. All in all though this book is a good read.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Thumping Good Read By Amazon Customer Of every ebook I've read so far (and I've read A LOT) this book definitely fits under the description, "Thumping Good Read"!The author does an amazing job giving us the flavor of medieval England complete with rye British humor and some hysterically funny and creative curses used by the characters. And speaking of characters, the character development is so finely crafted that even the minor ones have personality and a distinctive voice. It's always refreshing to read about strong female characters who take charge of their destiny and the characters of Marion and Rose do just that. You can't help falling in love with them. The male characters are fascinating as well. Even Friar Tuck, with all his irreverence, is an endearing character. He's also a hoot!If you want to gasp in wonder at non-stop action, laugh your butt off at bawdy and sometimes irreverent humor, while swiping your tablet eagerly to find out what will happen next, this is definitely the book for you. LaFuente's Bloody Maiden is a gripping, wildly entertaining yarn that belongs on the best seller list. It's not your father's Robin Hood. It's better!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Medieval meets modern sensibility in entertaining, twisted take on Robin Hood By Chris Kridler Mr. La Fuente's "The Bloody Maiden" is an entertaining, bloody medieval tale with modern sensibilities. The language layers old and new, and you've never read a take on Robin Hood like this, with twisted conflicts between devil-worshipers (and pagans and Christians), the often loathsome Friar Tuck, the confused but enthusiastic Merry Men, impish Robyn with dramatic tendencies, dreary peasants, a sociopathic evil lord, sleazy actors and the virtuous but kick-ass Maid Marion (so virtuous, there's zero romance in the book, in case you were looking for the classic relationship). Other characters lend complexity; as the drama, reversals and bodies mount, one can't help but root for them to succeed, no matter how messily they do it. The story is as crass as it is smart. And did I mention bloody? It's also funny and very enjoyable. I look forward to what I assume will be the next volume - hinted at here - which will give the stage to the nasty Sheriff of Nottingham, only obliquely mentioned in "The Bloody Maiden."

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. An adrenaline-filled campfire tale -- highly recommended! By R. Corey Schubert This is one helluva fun read – fast-paced, full of surprises and lovable characters that leap right off the pages. The Bloody Maiden is one of those rare and magical books that quickly transports the reader to a lively world chock full of danger at every turn, yet so packed with adventure that you don’t want to leave.La Fuente delivers an adrenaline-filled campfire tale, told in the relaxed and laugh-out-loud tone of an energetic storyteller with plenty of wisdom and heart. While The Bloody Maiden pays great homage to the Robin Hood mythos, it’s a fresh and imaginative approach that leaves little chance of correctly guessing what will happen next. This is one of those suspenseful stories in which characters find themselves painted into tight corners, readers hurry to turn pages to see how things will turn out, and everyone ends up entertained each step of the way.Regardless of the type of genre you tend to prefer, this one’s highly recommended.

Makes you want to reread all of this talented authors books- you feel like you know these characters and the worlds they live in. The mix of this character driven story and the accuracy of the history and culture of the time makes it completely absorbing. You simply can not stop reading till you get to the end- and then you miss these characters. Waiting to see what comes next from this prolific writer.

Not that I didn't think it wouldn't be, but the depth that it had was so lovely to discover!I read it on my Kindle, so it seems long at times (I had to listen to for the end half because my eyes grew tired, but I didn't want to stop!), but it was all really well written and carried through. Each character was marvelously strong, and yet vulnerable at the same time. I loved Merry - she was an inspiring character; storng, yet weak, and her realization at the end was perfect. I won't give away anything though. :)I must say, though, I think my favourite character was Allen. Talk about a strong, spiritual leader kind of guy! He was so encouraging, and so faithful - and strong in his faith in the Lord. There was this one part towards the end that really touched me, amazed me, and brought me to tears through the demonstration of his faith, and the results! Wow! This author knows how to write. I was very impressed. :)Between Timothy and Allen for Merry, I actually rooted for Timothy, because those two I thought were more suited for each other. I sure hope though, that as this series progresses, Allen gets his own story! The only thing I wished could've happened, was that Merry's belief in God could've returned stronger and that have been the main focul point of the end. The end was still handled well, it was just a bit on the 'mushy' side. ;) Nothing bad at all - it was sweet. I just was hoping for a more conclusive ending for her relationship with God.But yes, this was a fantastic story, one I greatly enjoyed and would recommend! Very medieval-y which I loved!I received a complimentary ecopy of this book from the publishers through NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review which I have given.

As I'm not a big fan of Robin Hood, I was a little skeptic at the beginning. But once I realized that this was more than your average legend, it quickly became one of my favorite books.I've never read historical fiction outside of English class, so this was pretty new to me. The writing was absolutely astounding. Really. The narrative and dialogue had a traditional Robin Hood feel to it, but it seemed so modern and was so well-written that I could enjoy it and not feel tripped up or confused. The story was one of those heart-wrenching, hilarious, gripping, action-packed stories that made you look forward to reading it every single moment of the day. I devoured this book and had dreams of Timothy Grey for the next week. It was so well-plotted, it left my critical writer brain awed in its perfection. In all honesty, this book deserves it's five stars. Three cheers for Dauntless! *Hip Hip Huzzah!*

Young adult, or YA as the genre is referred to in the publishing industry, revolves around characters who experience a coming of age. While the Dauntless characters certainly experience maturation over the course of the novel, this story is about so much more than the transition from childhood to adulthood. Sleiman has created a world of both magic and reality within the confines of medieval England that brings readers into the hearts of teenagers and the world of adults. With a gripping tangle of faith, friendships, romance, and survival, Dauntless should be on everyone’s to-be-read list regardless of the reader’s age.Hailed amongst some readers and reviewers as a female version of the story of Robin Hood, Dauntless stands on its own as a strong story that teaches readers about faith and love from the perspectives of teenagers fighting to survive during a time in which loyalty to the monarchy ensured your life. Merry, Timothy, and Allen—three of the main characters of Dauntless—form a dichotomy of beliefs and backgrounds that support the themes of the novel. Through Merry, Sleiman weaves such ideas as women’s roles, gender equality, and feminism; through Timothy, recognition within family; and Allen, leadership and perseverance to pursue one’s goals in life. Each of these characters experienced trials and tribulations in his or her life but found the courage to fight for their lives and dreams. All readers, but especially teenagers, will find Merry, Allen, and Timothy worthy examples of inspiration. As a Christian fiction YA novel, I found Dauntless to have strong threads of faith that bring the messages of Christianity to readers without becoming overbearing. Sleiman presents her messages in both overt and subtle manners, making Dauntless an excellent choice for readers familiar and unfamiliar with the faith. Christian readers will appreciate the overt themes of staying strong in your faith through trials and blessings and of questioning God’s will, while readers not as familiar with Christianity will draw upon the subtler themes of kindness and unexpected blessings. I am not one who necessarily looks for preaching in novels, but when reading a Christian book I do want a strong presence of Christian themes, morals, ideals, messages, and description—Dauntless has all of these, and I hope to find more novels such as this one in the future

This early work by Edgar Allan Poe was originally published in 1843. Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1809, Poe became an orphan at a very early age. After being taken in by a couple in Richmond, he spent a brief spell in the United Kingdom before returning to enrol at the University of Virginia. Poe struggled for many years to make a living as a writer and frequently had to move city to stay in employment as a critic. Even for his greatest success, 'The Raven', he only received $9 and, although becoming a household name, his financial position remained far from stable. Poe died in 1849, aged just 40, yet his legacy is a formidable one: He is seen today as one of the greatest practitioners of Gothic and detective fiction that ever lived, and popular culture is replete with references to him. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This book has huge editing mistakes By Robert Etheredge I am a fan of The Gold Bug and have often used its code breaking strategy. However, this book is very poorly edited and the crucial encrypted message is displayed incorrectly, with 3 of the cypher characters being represented by the same ae character. They obviously had no editing or proofreading as this was probably just mapped over from an electronic version with the wrong character mapping but it ruins the crucial part of the book.

Awesome for a little book By Jen Ok ok I will say the N word is used in this book making it a little cringe worthy, however one must remember the era in which it was written. Fabulous story. I had never read a Poe story thinking they were lame. Boy was I wrong! The ending is the best part especially if you are a Forrest Fenn treasure hunter! I cannot wait to get my hands on more Poe literature!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. nice twisted ending By jess These short stories are an amazing filler and a way to pass your time in the wait for the next book in the series. I love how we actually get to see episodes of grave messages play out, because I was truly wondering what was happening in the shows seasons to make it so popular in the rest of the books. The writing is great, the story is easy to follow and I really can't say anything more without massively spoiling this novella though it is a nice twisted ending. It is incredibly short though, a max of thirty minutes to get through the whole thing. A great little addition to the oracle series. i received this book for free from the author for an honest review, and if you enjoy this series as much as i do this is an added bonus of awesome while waiting for the next book.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely amazing By Michelle Mel Cynthia has done it again. I CANNOT get enough of her creative stories! These episodes keep me from absolutely missing Eva and the gang while I "patiently" wait for the next book in the series. This time Eva, Cyrus, Joey, and Elliott make a stop in Detroit. Somethings not quite right while filming this episode so Evie takes matters into her own hands to save her friends.Keep up the magic Cynthia, I will forever be a fan!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Another great short.. By Melannie S This short story details Elliot and Evie's adventure as they film Episode 3 of Grave Messages. If you haven't, check out book one, The Sibyl.

Review "Well-written and well-paced: a promising start to what should be an exciting and unusual sci-fi series." - Kirkus Reviews, Jan 2015"Fascinating, gripping and action-packed. If you like puzzles, mysterious ancient civilizations, or The 39 Clues, you'll love The Lost Tribes." Tui Sutherland, NYT's bestselling author of the Wings of Fire Series."It's a wildly imaginative, super-fun ride that runs from cliffhanger to cliffhanger. . . I'm always on the lookout for books that beg NOT to be put down and this was one of them." Chris Tebbetts, NYT's bestselling author of the Middle School series."This is science fiction that is so well grounded it appeals to all readers, even those who claim they don't like science fiction.  It's a thrilling, high-stakes adventure with characters you care about, even finding yourself working through puzzles with them, all the while looking over your shoulder for the next ingenious emergency.  In short, this is an all-nighter -- a book you'll read all night because it has the power and inventiveness dreams are made of." Kathy Erskine, author of Mockingbird, National Book Award Winner."Combining world travel, video games, puzzles, archeology, advanced technology, mysterious parents, growing danger, and a group of ambitious teenagers, The Lost Tribes by C. Taylor-Butler is quite the adventure." Chris Koppenhaver, Lackmann Library, Lenexa  KS"I'm always happy when there is a new sic fi book for middle grade, especially these days when it's non-dystopian sci fi. And this one adds ancient mysteries from around the world. Nice."  Charlou Lunsford, Blue Valley Library, Overland Park, KS

About the Author C. Taylor-Butler (Christine Taylor-Butler), an MIT trained Civil Engineer, is the author of more than 70 books for children, including Sacred Mountain: Everest. She has won the Best Children's Book of the Year Award and a host of other awards. Her short stories and essays have appeared in magazines and journals including the Horn Book Review, and Scholastic's Read and Rise Literacy Guide for Parents, to name a few. In addition to her writing activities, she chairs MIT's Regional Educational Council and serves on the Missouri Judicial Performance Committee. When not conducting various science experiments for many of her books: how to make solid objects float when they shouldn't, creating invisible force fields with magnets, and making electricity from fruits and vegetables (bringing the love of science to classrooms everywhere), the author has traveled to remote places, such as the Tongas National Forest in Alaska, to scout unusual locations for her debut science fiction/adventure novel, The Lost Tribes. She lives in Missouri where she is responsible for the care and feeding of a spouse, college kids, cats, fish and a very needy 104-year-old historic house.               Patrick Arrasmith has illustrated for both large and small publishers like - Greenwillow Books, Macmillan, Night Shade Books, Oxford University Press, Parachute Press, Penguin Books, Random House, Scholastic, Subterranean Press, Tor, Viking Press. Most, if not all, of his work is done in the medium of scratchboard. Scratchboard is a thin layer of white clay, machine-applied to a base of illustration board. The clay is coated with black ink. A blade not unlike a scalpel is used to scratch off lines of the black ink, revealing the white surface below. All color in the illustration is applied on a computer. You only have to take a look at the cover and interior art of The Lost Tribes to see the painstaking work and time put into each carving.

I'm a total nerd, or geek, or whatever you like to call folks who soak up fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and suspense like air made out of words. I really enjoyed Lost Tribes and plan to review it on my website soon. I love this group of brilliant kids full of questions, attitude, and an insatiable drive to understand everything around them. They know what they're supposed to be (so they think), how they're supposed to act--so of course, they refuse all of these rules and set about making their own way, and their own disasters. The mysteries begin immediately, and astute readers will quickly realize that something is a little . . . off. About their parents. About their neighborhood. About their supposed histories. Even about their (assumed) cultures. Of all the things the kids question, these basics aren't on the list, at least not at first. And then the madness begins. They have puzzles to solve and clues to follow and realities to face--things they can barely begin to imagine, about themselves, their families, and their own histories. This book is one wild ride. It kept me (a giant kid) very interested, and I think kids of all ages (even, um, over 29, by, you know, just a bit) will delight in trying to solve the puzzles, stay ahead in the guessing and sleuthing game, and making discoveries along with the main characters. Also, I would really, really like to meet and have a long conversation with the character of Uncle Henry. May he show up at my house one stormy afternoon, with the best computer game EVER...

We actually bought a 2nd copy at a local bookstore because author was there and he couldn't wait to meet her. Mrs Taylor-Butler did not disappoint. She was unfailingly generous with her time to meet and interact with young fans!

(To be frank, it is the type of book I still love reading.)We have five young characters, four of whom are moving into adolescence, dealing with the struggles of individuation we all have to deal with at that time of our lives. One thing I particularly liked about this book is the author's subtle route in introducing us to these characters and their parents and other family members. We get to know these five--Ben, his little sister April, and their friends (sometimes not so friends) Grace, Carlos, and Serise--all of whom live in the same small section of a neighborhood. The author, without beating us on the head with it, establishes that these five come out of four different ethnic groups--none of which is the typical WASP--and allows the reader to start to piece this fact together. The author doesn't make a big deal out of it, just lays it out there for us to bit by bit realize it.The principal character, through whose third person eyes we see most of the action, is Ben. At some points, as Ben jumped to certain conclusions that he thinks are explanations for the actions of other characters--usually the adults--I thought to myself, "Come on, Ben,you're not thinking it through." but then I thought back on my own life (at least four times the span of Ben's), and remembered some of the conclusions *I* jumped to when I was his age, and I thought, "Well, the author nailed that one."I was particularly moved by last several chapters, the growth and challenges the five go through, and the importance, at times, of being willing to disobey.I have loved science fiction since I was a kid. I read Robert Heinlein's juvenile focused novels (several given to me when I had my appendix out), the Tom Hardy Jr. books of the 1960s, the new age revolution of authors like Harlan Ellison, the classics of Madeleine L'Engle, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and many, many others. This is a wonderful addition to the genre, gracing us with young characters who learning how to think, how to empathize, and how to work together.I look forward to the next book in the series, to learn explanations to the questions left hanging (why are the rules Ben's uncle uses for H.O.R.S.E. so different from the rules I grew up playing by?), and what will the five main learn about the secrets of their origin?A great start to the series.Dr. John A. Horner

These three are as short as they come, but Shoshi manages to sketch out his (or is it her?) characters well The plots move like lightning. Lots happening. I liked them a lot.SILASWhat's unusual here is three such different stories. I liked the challenge of having to change gears so sharply between the three. The plots move fast, the characters are strongly drawn. The best one is about the terrors of caving. Not many caving stories around. The one about Mozart is slightly reminiscent of “Amadeus” but explores another wrinkle of the great man's life. Feena is about a strange and whimsical dystopia. Ian Mac.

Potius Mori Quam Foedari! Death before dishonor! Words that had been drilled into Lee Mordetur's head almost from birth. From the time her Uncle, Two Spears, had held her up as a squalling infant before her father's Wolf Soldier guard, to inspire them to sack Outpost IX! Thirteen years later, now Princess of the Imperium, daughter of the Eldadorian Emperor, Lee stood toe-to-toe with the ancient power of the King of Trenbon; he nearly 1,000 years old, she barely fourteen, a Sorceress in her mother's training. With victory impossible, Lee allowed her own Wolf Soldier guard, the Duke's son, Hectaro, to leap with her into a void and certain death! The ancient king would have no daughter of the Mordeturs as a bargaining chip! And yet, Lee and Hectaro didn't die, but found themselves instead in a land far from Eldador. Surrounded by enemies, without food, without water, with only Hectaro's sword to protect them. Now Lee travels the lands of an enemy far worse than the Trenboni King, across mountain ranges and roaring rivers, and through armies numbering in the tens of thousands. Can Lee Mordetur find the allies, the magic and the strength within herself to overcome the obstacles now before her, and to find her way home? Maybe that's why they call her Daddy's Girl!

This book basically picks up where the last one left off, so make sure you have your seatbelt on nice and tight because you're in for one great ride. As you begin reading the story, it will grab you hold you down tightly and then you will begin to watch the pages turn and turn and turn some more. Then before you know it, you'll feel like you've become a part of the story. You'll be reading about redemption, coming of age and an unexpected path that will change lives forever. I gave this book 5 stars but it deserves so many more because it's that good. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Beauty and the Chief, by Alysia S Knight

About the Author I grew up in a small town in Wyoming loving the outdoors, sports, art, and reading Hardy Boys books. After reading them all at least a half dozen times, I started writing my own stories. Thirty years ago I married a wonderful, honorable man. I’m mother of five children and grandmother of six boys. I love traveling. Through my husband’s work and vacations, I have visited much of the United States, all over Eastern Europe, Canada, Mexico, China, Thailand, Cambodia and Australia, giving me many intriguing locations and experiences for my stories. I am a storyteller. I write the classic hero story because I think there’s a need for more heroes, love, and adventure in our lives. I’m not out to change the world with my writing; I’m just hoping to make your day a little better. Hope you enjoy. Alysia S. Knight

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great action packed sweet loving romance novel. Beauty has personal bodyguard! By Kindle Junkies I loved it.The heroine was younger but sweet. The hero was strong and loyal. He is a widow with one son. They have instant attraction and fall quickly for each other. Heroine was in danger from a deranged stalker. Hero was policeman that worked hard to protect her. The climax was very suspenseful and action packed. I loved it and would highly recommend it. The chemistry btwn the characters was great. It is a safe read. Sweet read. Fast paced. No OW/OM. No love scenes, but I still felt heat. Author writes great sexual chemistry in her book. Knows how to get point across without need for love scene. I enjoy her love stories. Hope she has some more coming out soon.
