This would be a great gift for brides to be for a bachelorette party By steven pierce This would be a great gift for brides to be for a bachelorette party. All that can go wrong does at Elicia's wedding where she begins as an American Princess about to wed Prince charming and ends being the prime suspect for murder. Written in an old fashioned style, this is nicely devoid of naughty words and only contains hints of sexuality, Nice clean gothic style fun with great twists at the end. If you liked Rebecca, you'll like this. This appears also to be backstory for the writer's next book? Time will tell. Great deal for the price also.

La Vigne Elisha Elagen stands at the head of the stairs in her blood-stained wedding gown, holding a bloody dagger in her hand. Her father, a famous senator, lies dead. From this point on, the reader is taken into the story through a series of events--the cancelled wedding, confusion among the characters as to who murdered the senator, a mysterious organist. Throughout the story, the author builds suspense slowly as she adds family discord, more murders, a love scene in the attic of the huge Victorian house where Elisha lives with her sister. Perhaps one of the most fascinating characters the author has created is the Great Chameleon. Think of what a chameleon does and you get some insight as to why the character adopts that persona. Is he the murderer? Or is he the prospective groom the bride never married? The sibling relationship between Elisha and Coria, her sister, is also suspect. The greatest intensity of the story is wrapped in the tornado that tears through the small Texas area, wreaking havoc on the Victorian mansion, even lifting Elisha from the front porch. The reader can almost feel her anguish. The author brings the reader into the twisting terror that only this weather phenomenon can elicit--symbolic of the twists that occur throughout the story. Another attempted murder, a fire, and the tenseness the reader feels as Elisha attempts to rescue the man she was supposed to kill. This leaves her scarred for life. She's lost her home, her family, and her beauty. Because of this, she chooses the life of a recluse, but not without fame and curiosity of the townspeople. The reader is left with a very surprised ending.

Elicia, daughter of a popular politician, is incredibly beautiful and she is about to marry the most eligible bachelor in town in the East Texas wedding of the year in 1904. But murder mars the wedding day and suddenly everyone is looking at the beautiful bride as the only possible suspect. What deep, hidden motives could she have and what about all the others who might want the victim dead? This books contains all the great elements of a classic mystery thriller- a secret past, an undercover detective, plantation style hotel, a weird house (emanating spooky music and inexplicable lights), where most of the action takes place. Rich in detail, the book's characters are complex people who have beautiful clothes and jewels and exist in elegant, if somewhat odd, surroundings. A strong plot brings them all together and reveal the hidden truths about them all. Violent storms and the dangerous new technologies of the dawn of the 20th Century add to the atmosphere. A twisted ending manages to both wrap up all the clues! and possibly make room for a sequel? I can't wait!
