In the fall of 1947, Will Shakespeare saw the world collapse around him. Shakespeare, a secret soldier for the Knights Templar, barely escapes the slaughter of his entire knighthood at the hands of a rogue militant arm of the Vatican in a small Montreal church. With orders to escort Templar business associate Dorothy Wilkinson back to her home in Bermuda, Will must locate and rescue the most important secret treasure in human history before it is devoured by a hurricane in the watery caves beneath her father's property. The spiraling quest sends Will and Dorothy into uncovering dark secrets that make up the origins of the knighthood as they confront the traps and puzzles that masterfully protect the world's most coveted treasure.

The only survivors are Dorothy Wilkinson and Will Shakespeare. No, not that Will Shakespeare – this man, whose birth name was abandoned long ago, is now the sole remnant of the ancient Knights Templar. His commander’s dying instructions are to ensure that Dorothy survives the attack committed by the Order of Malta, the equally ancient and secret Catholic army.As it transpires, the Order of Malta has only begun to pursue the couple as Will Shakespeare and the Ships of Solomon, by Christopher Grey, takes its readers to the fabled Money Pit of Oak Island, and then to ancient caverns in Bermuda. This fast paced thriller has plenty of action and interesting puzzles, and its hard-bitten prose should please lovers of the genre, but it slid into cliché too often for me. I would have liked to learn more about the Knights Templar and why the Order of Malta was out to exterminate them, but the history of these organizations was mostly presented as brief commentary between chase scenes. We learn little about what Shakespeare thinks of his role in this historic struggle, and Dorothy is a cipher. However, readers who enjoy historical suspense might give Will Shakespeare a try.

Having known some interesting conspiracy theorists in my short life, I know that great mind that have and I wish that more of them put pen to paper for fiction's sake.Christopher does an amazing job of creating an amazing story that not only draws you in but makes you want more- from the very second to pick up the book. He's clearly done his work with the context and knows what he's talking about- which throws more awesomeness into the story.I am huge character person, and he does a great job at developing not only the characters, but the way they interact with each other. The dialogue flows naturally... and the characters are like real people- not 2 dimensions creatures slapped on paper at the last second. This is a definite read for those that like suspense, action, and awesomeness because that is totally what you'll be getting from it. So check it out and enjoy! You can thank me later.*I received this book in exchange for an honest review*

By savingsinseconds When I received Shakespeare and the Ships of Solomon for review, it was extremely hard not to hand my Knight (aka my husband) the kindle and say, “You’ve gotta read this!!” because I knew he would take it away from me. Instead, I’ll wait until the movie comes out. Hint, hint Hollywood! There was a definite DaVinci Code feel in this book. The balance of the male and female main characters came easily since both of them had strong personalities. I could easily envision Will Shakespeare (the Templar knight) as a movie character, played by Jude Law or maybe Joaquin Phoenix. Tom Hanks wouldn’t fit because Shakespeare has a bit of a potty mouth. This book would reach so many audiences! If you are a history fan, love suspense and action, and enjoy a bit of snarky romance, this might be just the book for you. Even though I received this book to review, the opinions shared here are 100% mine.
