In that stretch he was wounded three times, rose to Platoon Sergeant, saved countless lives, and was well respected among the troops despite his rough and tough attitude. By Don Kidwell Book really touched a nerve with me! Dynamic character, realistic environment, strong language but suitable for the context of the book. Passages that hit home like, "Damn it to hell, what's the matter with all those morons in DC? Really, what isn't wrong with 'em?" , "Drunk, high, they were the walking dead and didn't know it." and "When you're standing at home, you realize it's over...finito; your involvement at least. In your head its a different story..." Superb book with an ending that will stick in my mind for a long time!
