By Rick Soper This is a fun fantasy read that's somewhere between Disney and Lord Of The Rings with a bend in the YA direction. At first you can't help but dislike Sophie, but as the story goes along you begin to understand that it's not her fault, that the odds and magic has been against her from the start, and you start hoping for the turn that will move her forward into the better place she deserves. Along the way there is sadness, joy, and wild creatures that fill you with anticipation, wonder, and firmly place a smile on your face at the end. I'd highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Anya Monroe
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Good young /adult fantasy By Kindle Customer Sophie is a snot but Henri loves her anyway. Through twists and turns more of Sophie's story is revealed. Interesting plots and devious plans going awry. The only jarring note was a mistake many authors make and many editors don't catch: alliteration. In this case using reigns which means to rule when what was meant was reins which is what is used to guide a horse.

I fell for each of the characters and I was pulled along on their journey which was full of heartbreak, excitement, exploration, and some dark magic. These are not perfect characters. They are flawed and I loved them for it even more. This is one of those books you stay up late reading.
