They are England's most eligible bachelors, with the most scandalous reputations. But for the right woman, even an unrepentant rogue may mend his ways… Lady Grace Mabry's ample inheritance has made it impossible for her to tell whether a suitor is in love with her—or enamored of her riches. Who better to distinguish beau from blackguard than her notorious childhood friend, the Duke of Lovingdon? With no interest in marriage, Lovingdon has long lived only for pleasure. He sees little harm in helping Grace find a proper match. He simply has to teach the lovely innocent all the ploys a scoundrel uses to gain a woman's favor—by demonstrating his wicked ways. But as lessons lead to torrid passion and Grace becomes ensnared in another man's marriage plot, Lovingdon must wage a desperate gamble: Open his heart fully—or risk losing the woman he adores…

About the Author Lorraine Heath siempre sono con ser escritora.

It is spinoff of Heath's Scoundrels of St. James series. This series details the lives of the children of the couple's in the first series. WHEN THE DUKE WAS WICKED is the story of the Duke of Lovingdon, Olivia's young son from BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND DESIRE. Lovingdon has changed tremendously from the sweet boy he once was. He was always good until his world fell apart with the death of his young wife and daughter. Lovingdon has become a wicked man determined to never love again because of his pain. One night he is approached by Lady Grace Mabry, the daughter of Frannie and Sterling from SURRENDER TO THE DEVIL. They have been friends and Grace wants Lovingdon's help in determining which of her suitors love her. In teaching Grace about Scoundrels and love, Lovingdon finds something he never expected to find ... a second love.I absolutely loved this book. The book is a beautiful examination of love and loss. Both of these characters understand the fragility of life and by the end both have recognized that one has to love even in the face of potential loss. This is a book that is focused intensely on the emotions and relationship between the hero and heroine. The plot merely gives some structure to the relationship, but the plot is not novel or compelling. What is compelling is the beauty of the hero's journey. The book begins with Lovingdon declaring himself dead. Grace pulls him back into the world of the living.Knowledge of the previous series adds to the beauty of the book, but it certainly is not necessary to have read the prior series to completely enjoy this book.

Disappointing, hardly romantic and not for the faint-hearted By Sandy Milan I really loved the first series about the parents of these main characters, but this, the first in a new series, was disappointing. The writing was excellent as usual but the storyline is one of my least favourite. The H was married very young to his first love and first everything. He'd fallen in love with her at first sight but she and their baby had died. The h approaches him to help her find true love as according to her, he knows what it is. He had fallen into debauchery since his wife's death 2 years prior and didn't want to help the h initially. They had known each other since they were children. Eventually the H begins to give the h lessons on how to identify true love. He also begins to kiss her and dally with her but all the while doesn't have any intentions of marrying her. The h is aware that he is still in love with his late wife and doesn't want to settle for being second in his life.+++Spoilers+++One of the other reviewers says that the H reformed quickly once he starts seeing the h but that isn't true in my opinion. I'd say for nearly half of the book he was still sleeping with other women. I truly hated the way the H was still so in love with his first love for most of the book. We keep hearing about it and at 75% he is still saying to himself that he cares about the h but not the way he did for his wife. The h would always come second in his heart he believes, and says that his heart and soul would always belong to his late wife. I don't want to be reading this so near to the end of the book. What killed me is that he took her innocence after she shared her secrets with him. I truly wanted to throw my Kindle out of the window by this point. After she'd shared her deepest secret, he should have had more honour than to take her innocence, knowing he didn't love her. I hated the way he treated her immediately after he slept with her. At past 80% in the book, there was no way for me to be won over, the damage was done. I really didn't care how the hea came about after that.I'm sorry Ms Heath, I usually love your books but this one I can't recommend.

Pulls no punches tackling complex emotional issues en route to happiness By Penny Black All the books in the Scoundrels of St. James series started and ended with entries from a personal journal of the Feagan's lad, whose story was being told. For me, those thoughts were what made the books special. This tradition was preserved in the new spin-off series, this book kicks off with an entry from the hero's diary. I give you fair warning - brace yourself, my friends, - the prologue is heartbreaking. Two years before her presentation to society, the heroine went through an ordeal, which would have made a lesser young woman avoid society. She does the opposite: in embracing it she demonstrates resilience and uncommon strength of character. Her refusal to settle for anything less than a love match in her marriage came a no surprise, and I had no trouble accepting that her parents would grant her more freedom than her unmarried contemporaries would typically enjoy during their London season.Guilt and grief can bring even the strongest man down. To cope, the hero, all but loses himself among the demimonde, that is until the heroine asks him for help. Her scheme is daring and scandalous, and at first, he does not want any part of it. As it often happens, family, friends, and circumstances interfere, and before he knows it, he is in over his head, powerless to resist the connection that is growing between him and the heroine. His adamant declarations that he would never fall in love didn't fool me for a moment - his actions spoke louder than words - even if it took a near-death experience for them both to realize it, making the resolution so much sweeter, which is really all I could wish for in a romance.
