Eleven year old Marged Evans is upset when her mother turns off the TV and sends her outside with her brother to explore. She hears of the myths and legends that surround the cave on the edge of their hill farm. Being so intrigued by the stories she goes back alone the next day and what she finds deep in that cave will change her life forever. Although this is a work of fun and fantasy, it, unlike similar works by others uses a minimum of fantasy enabling the main characters to weave through a variety of historical happenings. Sometimes we forget that seemingly isolated, small communities are touched by many things that take place in the world at large. Mixing the fantasy of time travel to light up reality can make most of history a desirable, knowledge giving adventure. However, the work was written, chiefly for pleasure and to stimulate the imagination. Please enjoy.

About the Author ABOUT THE AUTHOR John Dingley grew up on a hill farm in Mid Wales and now lives in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. He has been called a renaissance man who has shown a variety of notable talents. He is an animal scientist and his love of nature has involved him in a major role in wildlife reintroduction. He is on the board of directors of the Raptor Resource Project and the Decorah Eagle Cam. His love of theatre has led to performances in a variety of roles, both in Wales and around the Mid West A noted storyteller and singer he can occasionally be discovered performing his one man show, “John Dingley and the Biggest Pack of Lies You Ever heard”. Once in a while he sings the US anthem at sporting events. He is a master glass cutter and engraver as well as being an accomplished stonemason. This is Johns first written work of fiction and he is currently working on the second and third books in the series; THE TIMELESS CAVERN - Marged Evans and the Pebbles of MORE Time and Marged Evans and the pebbles of Distance John takes a major interest in urban agriculture, sustainable agriculture and permaculture and has spent time teaching urban young people in the efficient use of gardening and agricultural hand-tools. I really enjoyed reading this book By Amy Ries "The Timeless Cavern: Marged Evans and the Pebbles of Time" introduces readers to Marged Evans, a young Welsh girl who explores a mysterious cave on the edge of her family’s hill farm. What she finds inside will change her life forever. A wonderful book for readers of all ages, The Timeless Cavern will be of special interest to people who enjoy time travel fantasy. I was especially intrigued by the Welsh characters and setting, although the book explores a wide variety of real and imagined characters throughout history.This reminded me a little bit of the Jack and Annie series (children time travel and explore history), but for older readers and with much more 'Welshness'. Looking forward to the next book. Full disclosure - I know the author personally and can hear him reading it in his wonderful rolling voice.

A grand, Welsh adventure through time By Amazon Customer This is a fun read, and I most definitely recommend it.Marged Evans is familiar with the legends of the cave near her family’s farm in Wales. People disappear into the cave, and sometimes strangers emerge from the cave, dressed in odd clothing and telling strange stories about the past. One day she enters the cave, and finds her way through a portal into the Timeless Cavern. She realizes what’s been happening – but most of the people in this cavern don’t even know they’ve been lost.Marged joins with some of the other lost, and with the keeper of the cavern to help the lost find their way back home, and thus begins her adventure travelling in and out of history, returning periodically to her own time to get supplies.The story is fresh and original; the plot is clever. There are moments when I’m alarmed at some of the choices she makes (!) but in a way this makes the story more suspenseful.There are a few flaws: without a big publishing company behind it, the editing is weak. Plan to encounter some spelling and grammar errors. The sentence structure seems odd at times – it helps to imagine the words being spoken in a Welsh accent instead of American. I had the opportunity to hear the author speak, and after that, the language in the book felt rich and rolling instead of clunky. The Native Americans are a bit clichéd, with their stilted speech and talk of “good medicine.” The WWII soldiers, both American and German are caricatures.But none of this detracts from the joy of the book. It is a grand adventure. Marged is a great character -- a bold, brave leader, with shades of Pippi Longstocking; if I were a girl, I would want to be her. This is a book that would appeal to boys and girls equally.

By David and Ann Lynch "The Timeless Cavern: Marged Evans and the Pebbles of Time" is a book for all ages, especially those interested in time travel, fantasy, and fiction with a touch of accurate historical fact! I read the book in a couple of days because I found the story so interesting and engaging, and I could not put it down. I love fiction, and fictional mystery, so this book is a win-win in my mind. My Great Uncle was a Poet and writer of fiction in Ireland, and I have always loved the British-Irish-Welsh lore, myths, and history that accompany many of the stories by writers from those regions, and this book contains much of those things along with time-accurate depictions of the time that Marged Evans, the main character, travels through. This reminded me of the old Irish tales filled with the battles with England, and reminded me of my childhood, and I was left with a big smile!.If you like fiction, and are a fan of the "Harry Potter" and "Lord of the Rings" stories, this book will entertain and engage, while looking forward to the rest of the series. I personally cannot wait for Book II, "Marged Evans and the Pebbles of MORE Time"!I am a volunteer with Raptor Resource Project, and have great respect for John's work with wildlife, but was completely unaware of his writing, which belongs at the top of his list of many talents. I believe "renaissance man" would be an accurate description!
