As much as the characters could have been enjoyable, they were presented in a poor way. The entire book is made of a lot of telling, in which what I like to call "And then this happened writing" it's where the author gives a lot of useless information in one paragraph. This information is only semi-relevant to the characters or the present situation. The first paragraph even went something like this: "I was at my house with my friends. My house was empty a lot. My mom works late. This was normal. I hang out with only guy friends." The rest of the book was a on and off again version of this style. Which doesn't make for a good read.Beyond that the characters are a bit unrealistic. The girl is annoying for a major part of the book, as for the first part she is an innocent girl who has no clue what sex is and then in the very next part she is sex crazed maniac. While this may not seem like a major deal, its a fast change that goes as far as 'sees butt, now I want sex.' We don't get a lot of the really important factors that are important in a coming-of age novel, which I feel Tomboy tried to be. The author does a very poor job of building up to important moments like Jake and Cameron's first kiss where Cameron demands the kiss, and so it happens. Jake is also a mess of a character. He is one dimensional, and just plain boring. The book is free. And if you get it for free, decide for yourself. I wouldn't pay for the book, though. Don't waste your money unless you enjoy one-dimensional characters, and just plan bad writing. None of this is meant to discourage the author, it's just one person's opinion.

To how he always liked her but was using her room behind her back to have sex with other girls. She catches him having sex in her room where he then completely naked makes a pass at her while the other girl is still in the room. Wow what a class act. The next morning her makes a pass at her again and asks her out the next day. Then this naive, never been kissed before, never been interested in anyone before virgin decides she needs to have sex with him so that she can no longer have feelings for him. The feelings she realised she had five minutes before she suggests sex. WHAT?!?! I read a book by this author before that was really good. Don't know what this nonsense is.

Him being older would have avoided it as we'd see the more protective side of him rather than the Little 17 Year Old Boy part.------------------------------Positives:1. The beginning with Cam being completely oblivious to Jake's feelings for her, her disregard for everything really. And her attitude to boys was refreshing.2. No swooning etc or INSTA-LUST.3. Cam's attitude to her friends is nice, and the kind way she turns down Jason but they remain friends. In the typical romance there would be drama4. The scene when Jake and Cam's twin Connor (persuaded by Jake) storm into Cam's room while she and her best friend Kyle are watching a p0rn film. Jake had assumed that she was having $ex. Cam's response of offering them crisps was funny.5. Jake's little brother Justin was adorable.6. The nostalgic stories between Jake and Cam throughout the tale brought insight to Jake's feelings and their relationship and was really sweet. The car tale was cute.---------------------------------------------Negatives:1. Jake ought to have been older2. Jake's sudden cash was a bit too pat and cliché3. It lacked a certain oomph.---------------------------------------------Otherwise a very sweet, enjoyable and cute tale.
