The Wreck of the Titan was written fourteen years before the sinking of the Titanic. The events in book are eerily similar to the actual events that would not happen for more than a decade. Titan the largest ship in the line is considered to be unsinkable, it is roughly the same size as the Titanic with about the same number of passengers, it was not provided with enough life boats for all of its passages, and half of the passengers died when it sank after hitting an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. So similar were the incidents described in the book to the sinking of the Titanic that many people credited the author, Morgan Robertson, with clairvoyance. The Dr. Who episode of the same name was based on the events in this book. A story of tragedy, loss, love and redemption.

Review Even stranger is another story included in this ebook: Beyond the Spectrum
This story describes a futuristic war fought with aircraft that carried what he called "sun bombs". These bombs were so powerful that with one brilliant flash of blinding light, one single bomb could destroy an entire city (much like a nuclear bomb ).N. B.: When this story was written, airplanes were still tiny, dangerous machines that could barely carry one man and was decades before the Germans started their "heavy water" experiments, trying to construct a nuclear device.
In addition, this future war begins in the month of December when the Japanese stage a sneak attack on Hawaii. (WW II began also, when the Japanese launched a sneak attack in December on an American base -Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii.)
It appears that the author was visionary of sorts.

11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Captivating By Snork The story was written in 1898 and follows the adventures of the main character, John Rowland, who lands up on the great and doomed ship "The Titan". Many eerily similarities to the 1912 events of another doomed ship with a similar name (Titanic). It is only 81 pages and once I got into the story, I couldn't put the book down. I had to see what would happen next. I recommend that you do not read the "Foward" by Sam Leith until after you read the story as it gives away a few things I would rather read in the story itself.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A must read for all Titanic lovers By aussiethirdwatchfan This truly is a 'spooky' preminition - the similarities between the fictious Titan passenger liner and the Titanic both the both and all the events in the lead up and aftermath are too spooky for words. Considering when Morgan robertson wrote this it was purely fictous and was not written to be some kind of preminition/prediction by a psycic. Definitley a must read for all Titanic lovers.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Prophecy By Sergey Lazarev Fan Written years before the loss of the Titanic. but similar facts. .. not enough life boats, etc.Nice storyline, well written, quick read. Would recommend to others.
