About the Author A flâneur at heart, P.M. Pevato constantly seeks new experiences whilst strolling down the boulevards of life. A global free spirit, the author studied and traveled extensively. She completed an LLM and PhD in public international law at the London School of Economics and worked for the United Nations in Geneva. She is fluent in four languages. A certified equine massage therapist and yoga instructor, the author combined both to develop, and teach, a yoga on horseback programme designed specifically for equestrians. The author's mantras are: the natural world is meant to be photographed, not unsustainably developed; animals are friends not food; the best view of the world, and place to practice yoga, is on horseback; and kindness can be shared and communicated without translation. She lives in a small community surrounded by as many horses as people.

I read this book a couple of times, in its rougher iterations, and am very impressed with the changes Ms. Pevato made. She listened to the suggestions her readers made, took the ones that were helpful, and discarded the ones that weren't, and ended up with a well crafted book. The story flowed from the snowy beginning through to the end. It was logical, as logical as teen witches and generations old witch hunters can be, and the ending left me wanting more. Fortunately, she has two more novels planned, and with any kind of luck will get Book Two finished, polished, and published before I forget Book One ;-) .Pay attention to the chapter headings, as the POV shifts between the protagonist and the antagonist. Although it's usually easy to spot within the first paragraph, it's nice to have that heads up.The characters are well developed, and the world in which they live, play, and work is equally well developed and believable. The imagery is beautiful, and I found myself wanting a blanket as I read. (It takes place in an alpine village in the winter, and I was cold.) I truly cared about some of the characters, and others, well—I wasn't supposed to like them. One of the joys of Young Adult/Teen fiction is there is no gratuitous sex or violence, and for that reason, many adults take great delight in reading books written for younger folk. I truly hope adults wanting a good story will pick this book up and read it. And for the teens out there looking for a good paranormal not filled with horny werewolves and vampires, this is the one for you!A unique story, and a fun read. Thank you, P. M. Pevato for writing this. And, please, hurry up with Book Two.

YABookers Review By P I received this free from the author in exchange for an honest reviewActual Rating - 4.5Emeranne Goode is a part of a coven of witches in Snow Valley. One day, when Ems is in the forest, she stumbles upon a brutal murder of a witch. There is a new danger for the coven of teen witches, and all eyes are on Ems. Ems also dreams of a forest full of fireflies and a boy on the ground. Bennett Bassett is an immortal witch hunter, but he is conflicted between his humanity and his duty. While Ems and Bennett become closer, secrets are revealed and lives are put in danger.Around a year ago I read Firefly by the same author. P.M. Pevato took into account her readers views and constructive criticism and went back and revised her novel. There has been a lot of improvement and it is very noticeable that she listened to her readers. I rated Firefly 3.5 stars, so you can tell I enjoyed the revised version more. In my other review I mentioned that the second half lost it's mojo a little bit, which is why it let me down a bit. However, Firefly: Ice Born definitely had more tension and suspense in the second half and did hold my interest for longer. The writing was much more improved. I felt like it flowed more and it made the story feel more magical. I particularly liked the dream scenes, they were definitely my favourite aspect of this novel. The plot itself did keep me turning pages and it was quite riveting. The effort that the author put in to create this magical world is obvious and it paid off because the world building is pretty good. The cliffhanger was pretty good as well, and really does leaves you wanting the next one.Now on to the characters. Firefly: Ice Born is told in two different point of views, Ems and Bennett. Personally, while I really liked Ems, Bennett was a favourite of mine, which is a change from the first draft and I felt like his creepiness went down a lot. I thought he was a really well developed character and I was really interested in his past, and how he disliked what he was and how his humanity got in the way. I also really liked Ems as I felt like she was strong, independent and driven but just so normal - minus the witch part. She was just an average girl for the most part. She hung around with her friends, ate pizza and cake and I really loved that. I think that is why I really liked the relationship with her friends. They were all so supportive of each other. The romance was much improved in this version. It was more developed, less forced, and it wasn't really at the forefront. The main story took the main focus of the story.Overall, a much improved version. A must read if you enjoy paranormal romance.

Interesting, beautiful read By Dani Fisher I RECEIVED A COPY OF THE EBOOK ICE BORN: BOOK ONE, FIREFLY, IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW FOR THE GROUP WE HEART YA! BOOKS.A solid 4.5!I love the idea of witches. I mean, who wouldn't want to hex the idiot whose texting while weaving in and out of traffic? Or the ex who dumped you for someone with bigger boobs? And I've read a lot of witchy fiction and was curious to see Pevato's take on the theme. I was pleasantly surprised. The story follows the awakening of a normal girl turned witch, and a witch-hunter with a conscience. Pevato weaves a storyline that has everything a reader like me enjoys: forbidden romance, supernatural elements, coming-of-age, and mystery. Her writing voice is amazing and her descriptions are beautiful. I would definitely continue reading the series.
