Archeological excavations at the ruined Abbey of St. Edmund unearth a sealed canister. In it is a document that has the potential to change the course of the British Empire and all of Christendom. There are some evil young men who are prepared to rob, and beat and even commit murder to keep its contents from ever becoming known. There is a strikingly beautiful young Sister, with a curious double life, who is determined to use the document to improve the lives of women throughout the world. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are called upon to protect the young woman, catch the killers, and trap the evil men who are greedily plotting against The Nun. The mystery is inspired by the original Sherlock Holmes story, A Scandal in Bohemia. Fans of Sherlock Holmes will enjoy a new story that maintains all the loved and familiar characters and settings of Victorian England.

About the Author In May of 2014 the Sherlock Holmes Society of Canada – better known as The Bootmakers (www.torontobootmakers.com) – announced a contest for a new Sherlock Holmes story. Although he had no experience writing fiction, the author submitted a short Sherlock Holmes mystery and was blessed to be declared one of the winners. Thus inspired, he has continued to write new Sherlock Holmes mysteries since. In real life he writes about and serves as a consultant for political campaigns in Canada and the USA (www.ConservativeGrowth.net), but would abandon that pursuit if he could possibly earn a decent living writing about Sherlock Holmes. He currently writes from Toronto, Tokyo, and Manhattan.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Story By Drstatz My words are addressing the story not 'A Scandal In Bohemia.' Mr Copland is at the top of his game here. He has an uncanny ability to mimic the Conan Doyle stories to the extent they could have been plugged into the original canon. Plots are air tight, characterizations are done to perfection and the reader is kept spellbound. Mr Copeland is one of those writers who is well aware that the story's the thing so he doesn't get sidetracked into other realms which proves distracting. One thing he does that makes stories additionally attractive is he will set them into historical contexts seamlessly. Many writers don't do this too well and consider a passage in a Holmes/Watson story where, say, Oscar Wilde walked by to constitute context. Not so.As far as surprises are concerned, Mr Copeland never fails to slide something in that takes the breath away. To find what I refer to, you have to read the book. It is well worth your time and money spent. That said, I confess to being perplexed by something. It is not unusual for writers of Holmes/Watson pastiches to use material directly quoted from the original Conan Doyle stories without crediting the source. Other retired English teachers like myself have large amounts of difficulties with this. I'm not referring to what Mr Copeland did here where the story was inspired by a Conan Doyle original but what is called 'Plagiarism.' One recent review I wrote addressed a book where you could not tell (unless you are completely familiar with the Conan Doyle offerings) what came from Conan Doyle and what came from the other author. Am I the only one taking umbrage at this?I am not accusing Mr Copeland of plagiarism. However, I wonder if the Conan Doyle stories are out there up for grabs. I mean, if I decide to take 5-6 of Conan Doyle short stories, toss in 'The Valley of Fear' then put them into a volume with my name on the cover and sell them world wide, is this permissible? Certainly including 'A Scandal in Bohemia' made this current offering larger than it would have been if it had contained only 'A Sandal From East Anglia.' I wish someone would throw some enlightenment my way.
