About the Author Karlie Lucas is a preschool teacher by day and a writer/artist by night. A graduate of Southern Utah University, Karlie received a B.A. in Creative Writing, with a minor in art. She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, The International English Honor Society, as well as ANWA, the American Night Writers Association. Karlie is interested in all things magical and mysterious, especially elves and dragons. She is an avid fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling. When not writing, Karlie can often be found drawing, baking, watching her favorite old school shows, or just spending time with her family. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Definitely recommend for older teen-YA By The Naughty Librarian Kas starts out a little slow at first, but picks rather well early on. This book does have a little bit of the down the rabbit hole feel to it, but for me so do many other really good stories. I do very much agree that this story is aimed towards a younger age group than myself. That being said I let my 3 daughters read it. They all LOVED it! (Sons said no thanks, we prefer dead things LOL) Youngest said she really enjoyed that the "Girl" Kas was not a whiny, wimpy leading girl. Daughter hates whiny wimpy girls that need rescued. Middle Daughter (Piper) loved the Milord etc after entering the new world. Loved the suspense. My oldest daughter had a little more to say about it. " I really like how Kas is a typical teenage girl. always second guessing, always wondering if were doing the right thing. 2nd guessing ourselves and who we should listen to. I WILL be suggesting this book to my friends."

I felt like the characters were real. you are kept in the dark for most of the story, but that is what keep you interested. and it is worth it when you get the answers. i loved the spots of romance. i can't wait to read the next one.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Awaiting Kas 2 By ALYZ Am awaiting the sequel! It did end with me wanting more. I admit there are some parts in the book that aren't as clear or perhaps a little slow such as her transition between worlds, but as you keep reading, Kas's secret becomes more clear. The author does a great job of providing details (dialogue, mannerisms, idiosyncrasies, facial expressions) of the characters which really invites readers on to the stage making them more understandable and believable.
